It was the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on the night of Isra and Mi'raj, Isra was when Muhammad (pbuh) was sleeping in Masjid al-Haram and Gabriel and Michael brought Baraq to him and then the animal Baraq took Muhammad to the "Farthest Mosque" (Al-Aqsa Mosque) and he (peace be upon him) led Adam, Moses, and Jesus in prayer (may Allah grant them peace). Then the Mi'raj is when Muhammad (pbuh) was taken by Baraq to the Seven Heavens.

Is there any city that is considered sacred to all three major monotheistic religions?

Jerusalem. It was the site of the Temple in which Jews used to worship for centuries (today they worship at a remaining wall of the Temple known as the Wailing Wall). Christians regard the city as holy because Jesus spent the last week of his life teaching in Jerusalem. It was in Jerusalem that he was sentenced to death and he was crucified outside of the city. Muslims regard the city as holy because it they believe that Muhammad ascended in to heaven from the point that used to be occupied by the Jewish Temple. Today the area of the former temple is covered by a mosque known as the Dome of the Rock.

What is the Dome of the rock and what Muslims lands are associated with it?

The Dome of the Rock is an Islamic shrine built over the "Noble Sanctuary", which is where Muslims believed Muhammad ascended to heaven for one night to meet with the previous prophets of God. The "Noble Sanctuary" is the same place that Jews and Christians call the "Temple Mount" or "Foundation Stone" since it was the center of the Israelite Great Temple in Jerusalem prior to 70 C.E.The "Muslim Lands" associated with the Dome of the Rock are typically labeled as "the Palestinian Territories" and include the Old City of Jerusalem, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank. However, the Old City of Jerusalem and East Jerusalem have been been annexed to Israel and ruled jointly with de jure Israeli West Jerusalem as United Jerusalem.
