Why are the alliance systems a cause of World War 1?
Because of the huge alliances which existed prior to the war, any conflict involving almost any nation on Earth was going to inevitably draw in everybody else.
How did the alliance system cause war?
Having military allies means that if your allies go to war, you go to war as well, to help them fight. So small wars become much larger wars. Also, systems of alliances make nations over confident. One of the causes of WW I was the belief by both sides of the war that their military alliance was so large and so powerful that it could not be defeated. People are always more willing to go to war when they expect to win. Without their allies, they might have been more hesitant to take such risks.

This Tension was beacuase Both Germany at Great Britain at the time where looking to expand and widen there empire, this caused tension beacuse both nations feared that the other would try to invade their land. This is also another reason wh y the alliance systems where created.

The Alliance system allowed countries to make allies with other countries secretly. Therefore, a war which would have involved only a few countries involved the entire world because allies backed each other up in war. WW2 isn't a good example since Hitler would have probably run through all of Europe anyway, and eventually the US, to eradicate those he thought "impure". WW1 however is a great example because a war which would have been between Austria Hungry and Serbia ended up encompassing the world due to alliances.
