Women were not allowed to vote, unlike men. Women were not allowed to have an education, but instead stay home to take care of children, meals, and housecleaning. the women would do all the dirtywork, until the nurses along with other women declared their right to vote.

during WWII women were treated unfair! They were not aloud to serve as soliderss in the war, expecially not captains or leaders. Theyu were mostly left at home to take care of the farms and shops but in some rare ocations they were able to go to battle. They did not always get to fight in most cases they werer nurses and other sterotypical jobs that a woman would be "fit" to do.

this answer is only true in some cases. Many women were encouraged to work, even fight in the battles! look up "Rosie the Riveter," you should find more when you do.

this is a good site to use, it really helped me on my term paper.

One answer I can get you is that, during those years, women only worked inside the homes. But during WWII, when the men enlisted in the military, many positions that these men held were vacant; in factories, farms and offices. These vacancies then were filled by women who never worked before. This new "chapter" in women's lives gave women a "boost" in their confidence and a strong sense of their independence.

By the time the men came back after the war, the women then kept their jobs and the government allowed them to keep their jobs. This is the time when women started to fight for equality of pay (which until now, women still earn .77 cents to men's 1.00). The war paved the way for women to work.

Women were looked down apon, and took over jobs that men worked because owners in factories needed production so they took in women but when men came back from war the men took over once again and men wanted things back to the way they were. women weren't able to succed in a job that a man would normally work in.

Well, during WWII, men were away at war so women had to fill all the empty jobs. They made bombs, tanks and weapons, and they were respected for that. Of course, once the men came back, women were treated like trash again.

Hope this helps ya. Maybe we can get that respect some day. ;-)
