Flooding can have a major affect on a stream. Basically, it can cause most of the water from the stream to rise/overflow and then flow into other areas. This can cause damages to near by houses, etc. Also, if there were any nutrients, dirt or even silt in the stream, then the flooding can cause a decrease of them in the stream itself. This is mainly because they will be carried with the water that is overflowing.
