What is the major moutions
Higher elevation. Ridges separate rivers, which at their most elemental level are runoff (from springs or precipitation). As patterns of runoff converge, permanent streams form.
The drainage system located between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains is primarily the Mississippi River Basin. This extensive system collects water from a large area of the central United States, draining into the Gulf of Mexico. It includes tributaries like the Missouri and Ohio Rivers, which contribute to its vast network.
It really depends on where they are located. Like the Rocky Mountains are very warm and sometimes hot, and the Appalachian Mountains are not that hot. Canadian Rockies have glaciers and permanent snowcover ( not hot at all ). The rivers flowing off them are ice blue in colour, indicating liquid ice cubes.
Thereare canyons east of the Rocky Mountains, but they are small compared to those in the Rockies. The Rockies have had a geologically recent uplift, so the canyons carved by the rivers are relatively young (thus well defined) and deep. Canyons in the east are smaller and have had time to be substantially eroded.
Mountains. We use the term "divide" to mean the place on a mountain or ridge that separates two directions of water flow.

The Rocky Mountains play a crucial role in shaping the rivers in their region by capturing snowmelt and precipitation, which then feeds into the rivers. The steep slopes of the mountains also lead to fast-flowing rivers with rapids and waterfalls, making them important sources of water for various ecosystems and human activities. Additionally, the Rocky Mountains act as a barrier, causing rivers to flow around or through them, creating unique landscapes and habitats.
