US did not invade Mexico. Mexico attacked first in Texas which was part of Mexico but wanted to go independent. Racist was not in it. Most in Texas at that time were "Mexicans" and mixtures. This answer does confuses the War of Texas Independence with The Mexican War, and makes no mention of altitude at all.

True, Texas was not really part of Mexico but they thought it that way and some still do!. Texas was technically independent from Mexico. But the temporary Texas independence was one of the main reasons US got into war with Mexico and the first shots were fired in Texas. I see the Mexican war just a "continuation of Texas so called independence.

The difference, of course, being that Texas was annexed as a state before the Mexican War, and therefore a violation of Texas sovereignty led to the invasion of Mexico by two American armies, which did not happen during the War of Independence in 1836.

Is incorrect Texas asked to be part of the US and congress approved. Texas was none of Mexico's business after they got their independence. But some did not accept that.

Us did not invade Mexico until the war started. We ended up taking Mexico City at great costs 12,000 us troops I do not know the Mexico deaths. It would have ended sooner if Santa Ana would have just see he lost. But he kept going and Mexico and US paid for it.
