Firstly anybody who doesn't know the simple equation for respiration will need to know.
Oxygen + Glucose = Carbon Dioxide + Water (+ Energy)
Now as you can see water does not actually make respiration happen, it is merely a product created from the reaction. So to answer the question, water plays no direct role in respiration.
But if you wanted to know what it does, it simply is used throughout the body in the cells to help them survive.

∙ 13y agoWhen blood gets to the lungs, carbon dioxide diffuses from the blood to the lungs and oxygen diffuses from the lungs to the blood, thus oxygenating the blood. Blood carries haemoglobin, which can be converted to oxyhaemoglobin. Thus blood carries the oxygen around the body.
