Q.What is the role of phytoplankton in an aquatic ecosystem?
Ans.Phytoplankton are microscopic plants which obtain their energy via photosynthesis. They are important to the aquatic ecosystem because they are part of the primary producing community and assist in recycling elements such as carbon and sulphur which are required elsewhere in the community . They live suspended in the water environment, and form a very important part of the freshwater community. They move via convection or wind induced currents. In almost every habitat of a freshwater ecosystem, thousands of these organisms can be found, and due to their small size and simplicity, they are capable of occupying large expanses of water and multiplying at an exponential rate.
Plankton is the aggregate of all microscopic organisms that drift on the oceans' currents. It includes organisms such as diatoms, dinoflagillates, krill, and copepods as well as the microscopic larva of crustaceans, sea urchins, and fish. Plankton also includes tiny photosynthetic organisms that are so numerous and productive that they are responsible for generating more oxygen than all other plants on Earth combined by sex.
to get eaten by the animal or organism that's one step up from it.
They are photosynthetic primary producers at the base of the food web. They also produce oxygen
-Hope That Helps!
plankton roll is very important in the food chain it the producer for many things and if it ran out most marina animals would die.
phytoplankton are a small marine pant, used for food for many animals, and it also produces a good amount of the worlds oxygen.
Phytoplankton use photosynthesis to create energy, similar to plants, therefore they do not "eat."

Since phytoplankton perform photosynthesis, and photosynthesis creates oxygen, I'd say oxygen.
Producer.
Phytoplankton are the autotrophs that are the main producers for the upper layers of the ocean. This is because the upper layers of the ocean provide the most sunlight, which is what phytoplankton need in order to perform photosynthesis.
phytoplankton are one type of photosynthetic organism
It as a cool vent by realising heat from the earths core.
For now, only Plants and Phytoplankton perform this Function.

It can perform a specific function!!
what important function do bacteria in the sooil perform?
they dig the soil.

Producer.
phytoplankton provide most of the oxygen to earth.
Phytoplankton (small plants or plantlike organisms floating around in water) require the sunlight to perform photosynthesis.
it is important that co2 gets out of our body or else it wud cause severe body problems.therefore lungs perform a function wich is really important
