The liver is one of the most important organs in our bodies. It synthesises bile (which helps us digest lipids), it breakdowns old erythrocytes (red blood cells), it turns toxic and poisonous substances (such as alcohol) into less toxic chemicals, synthesises different vitamins and it also acts as a storage place for glucose (stored as glycogen). The liver has many more functions, but these are the main ones.
