Typical factory trailer towing hitches for jeeps are no larger than a class 2 which is rated for up to 3500 pound Gross Trailer Weight and a 350 pound hitch weight. The factory towing package should have a heavy duty cooling system as well as optional transmission cooling system. Your jeep can pull a heavy load but not necessarily do so safely or without damage to your vehicle and so great care should be taken to ensure that your rig is outfitted correctly. A phone call to a local trailer hitch specialist will give you good specific information that will allow you to tow with confidence and not tear yourself or your equipment up.
Yes, unless you are towing a heavy load.
it is possible to tow a 4X6 or 5X8 trailer, depending on what it is you are towing. If you are towing a heavy load with it you are putting a heavy strain on your transmission. If it's just a 4 wheeler or something like that it wouldn't be too bad, any thing heavier and you might want to get a small truck. i'd say ya i pulled a focus with a escort station wagon from new york to st.louis
If you're wanting the MPG ratings for when you're towing a trailer, I'll give you some configurations below. 2010 Ford F-150 XLT, Crew Cab, Max Trailer Tow Package, 5.4L Triton V8, 4x4, Max Towing Capacity of 11,500 pounds. If you were towing 11,500 pounds (which I've done with my '09 F-150) you would get about 12mpg city and 15mpg highway. MPG numbers drop tremendously when you tow heavy loads. :D
