you need to use something with a 9 pin deutche connector because the 20 pin obd2 port will not allow communications.
Fuse ( # 17 ) is a 20 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter and Data Link Connector on a 2001 Ford Ranger if there is no power
It allows the OBD II scanner to connect to your Ford Explorer to " read " any trouble codes when the check engine light comes on for one thing
No obd2 requires a code reader or scanner.
You got to use a OBD 2 code reader or scanner
You need a OBD2 scanner/code reader to get stored codes and to erase them
You will need an OBDII scanner tool to check the codes. If you don't access to a scanner tool, AutoZone and similar auto parts stores offer a free scan.
OBD Data port / data link??
All 1995 and later model vehicles require an OBDII scanner tool to retrieve the trouble codes.
From '96 up the Tauri (and all cars) had OBD2 systems, which (I believe) can not be read without a scanner. Many chain auto parts stores will check codes on these cars for free.
You will need an OBD2 scanner to retrieve the code that has been set.
Bring it to a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine the problem if any and if none clear codes
That is where the OBD code reader ( for trouble codes ) plugs in
