The law permeates every aspect of society and there are affirmative/defensive sides to each confrontation. For example, in criminal law there are prosecutors bringing cases against defendants for criminal infractions. So is law in life, equally sided and everywhere. When choosing college majors or high school courses, focus on the type of environment where you want to practice law; whether it is by location (corporate/urban or small/community), field of study (any other major or class taught in school), or employer type (private/gov/nonprofit). Only scholarly legal professors study purely law. The scholar's work is to philosophize about the law, not practice the law. Because the law permeates society, aspiring lawyers should first determine where in society they would like to practice and contribute.
