If you want to have any hope of preserving any data on the drive, then the correct answer is NONE! There are too many particles of dust, dirt, skin cells, and more floating around in the regular air of a private home, business office, hospital, or other facility not classified and certified as a Class 100 clean room. If you open the drive outside of such a facility, then the only way that you will successfully be able to use the drive again is to send it to such a facility for repair and decontamination. Reassembling the drive and putting it back into operation yourself will lead to those unseen particles getting caught between the read/write heads and the data platters, marring the surfaces of said platters and destroying the data.
Now having said this, if the drive is dead and you just wish to take it apart to see what is inside, then you should use a very small Torx bit. Most of the screws tend to be either T-5 or T-8 with T-5 being the smaller of the two. You can pick up these bits at the hardware store.
