The North Sea is west of Norway and the Irish Sea is east of Ireland, between Britain and Ireland. The North Sea is on the far side of Britain, so Ireland does not touch it, but it could be said to be east of Ireland. So the answer you are looking for would be the North Sea.

The Irish Sea to the east, the North Channel to the northeast, St. George's Channel to the south-east and the remainder of the coastal areas are on the Atlantic Ocean. The area of sea directly south of the country is sometimes referred to as the Celtic Sea.
