A part of a continent that extends into the ocean is called a peninsula. Peninsulas are landforms that are surrounded by water on three sides and connected to the mainland on one side. Examples include the Arabian Peninsula and the Korean Peninsula.
The Arabian Peninsula. To more accurate: The Arabian desert ( the greatest or biggest desert ) extends from the gulf area in Asia till Morocco in Africa.
The Mediterranean Sea does not border the Arabian peninsula, which extends into the Indian Ocean and has the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden to the south, the Arabian Sea to the southeast, and the Persian Gulf to the northeast.
The US state of Michigan is formed of two peninsulas. The "Lower Peninsula" extends north between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The "Upper Peninsula" farther northwest extends between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan and the two peninsulas are separated by the Straits of Mackinac, near the conjunction of the three largest Great Lakes.
