Chuck Norris kicked a spotted horse in the neck and its neck grew like a giraffe's.Its offspring had a long neck too.
Giraffes evovled with long necks so they can reach the tree and eat the leaves.

They have long necks
Competition + Variation. Classic example: Giraffes not always had long necks. There were variation in the species. When food sauces grew low competition increases and those with longer necks survived (more fruit/food at the top of trees) as they were more suited to the conditions. These long necked giraffes then breed and the offspring have long necks, thus natural selection of a "fitter" species. Hense - survival of the fittest.

I LOVE giraffes. There necks don't seem that long to me. They are intelligent
Lamarck would explain the development of giraffes with long necks as a result of the giraffes stretching their necks to reach higher leaves, and passing on this acquired trait to their offspring. This is known as the theory of inheritance of acquired characteristics.
They are born with long necks. Their necks do not "get long". They just are long naturally from birth.
