On almost all cars any sensor unplugged can turn on the check engine light.
In general, since you replaced the engine, you most likely disconnected the battery - and that should have reset the codes. If you are getting new codes, something is wrong. Perhaps you have a wiring error or a disconnected sensor. Perhaps one of the sensors is bad.
Not necessarily.
if you look just under the distributor you will see where from right to left you have a radiator hose, heater hose, then two sensors, the sensor furthest to the left is your coolant sensor, I was troubleshooting mine earlier and started the car with it disconnected i got check engine light with p0118 (coolant temp sensor) so there ya go
There are sensors all over the engine that can turn the check engine light on.There are sensors all over the engine that can turn the check engine light on.
There are to many sensors to list. What sensor are you looking for, And what is the engine size. NEUTZ.
The sensor is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, located under the EGR, on the side of the engine between the engine and the battery. Brass sensors can be bought at the dealer.
the vehicle speed sensor is on the tranny it hooks onto your speedometer. the engine speed sensor is on the front of the engine, two different sensors guys.
Maybe when new thermostat installed a vacuum hose was disconnected? Or perhaps a sensor was disconnected and was not noticed. I would do a visual check first looking for Hoses off and unplugged sensors. Then get the car scanned (free at autozone) Is the check engine light on ?
For a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer ( 5.0 liter V8 ) ( there are a total of 4 oxygen sensors , 2 sensors that are used with the PCM to adjust the fuel ratio that are nearest the engine on both sides , and 2 sensors that are also called catalyst monitors because they are in the exhaust after the catalytic converters ( downstream sensors ) On the passenger side of the engine in a Mercury Mountaineer ( Bank 1 ) Sensor 1 ( upstream sensor ) and Sensor 2 ( downstream sensor ) On the drivers side ( Bank 2 ) Sensor 1 ( upstream sensor ) and Sensor 2 ( downstream sensor )
The sensor is located near the front of the engine
Here is a PARTIAL list...backup sensor?door ajar sensor?O2 sensors (got about 3 or 4 of them in different places.)engine temperature coolant sensor?Engine Oil temp sensor?Engine vacuum manifold pressure sensor?Engine atmospheric pressure sensor?Mass Airflow sensor? (MAF)throttle position sensor?windshield washer reservoir level sensor?Crash-velocity-sensitive-airbag deployment sensor?fuel-tank full/empty sensor? (gas gauge)oil pressure sensor?seatbelts need to be used-sensor?heating a/c temperature sensors?A/C clutch sensor?A/C system pressure sensors?Crankshaft position sensor?transmission gear selector sensor?Overdrive sensor?Locking torque converter sensor?anti-lock brake wheel sensors?anti-lock brake master cylinder sensors?brake pedal sensor?brake light-brake pedal switch sensor?windshield wiper motor sensor?fuel mixture sensor?ECM module sensors? The only sensors that I am aware of on the throttle body is the throttle position sensor.
