This was an arbitrary decision made by anatomists many centuries ago. It is based on the "anatomical position". This was made so each would know what the other was speaking about.
frontal plane or coronal plane
Coronal/frontal plane.
The body is divided into anterior (front) and posterior (back) portions by the frontal (coronal) plane. This plane runs vertically from side to side and divides the body into front and back halves.
Coronal plane is a medical term. It is an imaginary line that slices the body in half cutting the body into front and back halves.
1. Frontal plane is also called (Coronal Plane)- Divides the body into front and back halves. 2. Saggittal plane- Divides the body into left and right division. 3. Transverse plane- Horizontal division that divides the body into upper and lower halves. -Mariah Pappan
front
The sagittal plane divides the body into right and left halves.
Anterial and ventral
well all the body planes separate the body into two planes. the frontal plane separates it into anterior(front) and posterior(back) sagital separates medial and lateral, transverse superior and inferior.
Axis
back (opposite of front) = derrièreback (body part) = le dos
The lungs are inside your body so it isn't really in the front or back. It is in the chest area or upper body.
