The Milky Way was long thought to be a "spiral" galaxy much like the Andromeda Galaxy . But recent observations indicate that the Milky Way is probably a "barred spiral" galaxy. Viewing the Milky Way from within as we do, it is somewhat difficult to get a clear picture.
The Milky Way has four spiral arms radiating out from a central cluster of stars or "nucleus". Our solar system is located on one of the spiral arms, quite far from the center, and it has a bulge in the middle.
The Milky Way is our galaxy. It is close to the Local Super Cluster of galaxies, Virgo 1. The Super Cluster is a giant area of many galaxies, that head toward each other, but do not necessarily collide with each other. Its what makes the universe!
Our galaxy, the Milky Way, forms a flat spiral shape with 6 arms (4 major and 2 minor) radiating from a dense central core.
The entire galaxy is roughly 100,000 light years across, averages 10,000 light years deep (30,000 at the core) and contains between 200 & 400 billion stars.
There is also a spherical region surrounding the Milky Way, called the "stellar halo", with a diameter of 100,000 bullion light years containing dense clusters of thousands of stars. Extending even further out is the "corona" or "dark halo", extends more than 600,000 bullion light years. This corona contains 2 small galaxies called the "Megallenic Clouds" and four more small galaxies.

The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy.
The Milky Way Galaxy is classed as a spiral galaxy as it's appearance is of a spiral with looser outer stars becoming denser the closer you get to the centre.
As a picture is worth a thousand of my words, the the related link for a generated picture of our galaxy.
Note: This is a computer generation of what we believe the galaxy looks like and not a real one (as we have not ventured past our own solar system, let alone the galaxy).
The Milky Way is the home galaxy of the solar system. Its a barred spiral shape galaxy. It contains 100-400 billion stars and at least 50 billion planets. The stellar disk of the Milky Way galaxy is approximately 100,000 light years. The Milky Way is part of the local group of galaxies and is one of around 200 billion galaxies in the observable universe.
The milky way galaxy is spiral shaped, it has two arms that spiral around the center, and it has a bulge in the middle.
The Milky Way Galaxy is not part of any galaxy. It is a galaxy unto itself. And it's our home galaxy.
The milky way is our galaxy... The milky way is in a spiral form shape... it consists of billions and billions of stars... The milky way also has many dwarf stars and planets...
The center of the galaxy is the brightest part of it due to the vast array of stars in a more confined area.
The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy, just like our own galaxy (the Milky Way). The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy, just like our own galaxy (the Milky Way). The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy, just like our own galaxy (the Milky Way). The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy, just like our own galaxy (the Milky Way).
No, they just named the galaxy the milky way because it's like....... well, a milky way.
We all live in the same Universe.
it is the closest galaxy to the milky way it is the closest galaxy to the milky way
Not "galaxies", just one galaxy. Our galaxy is called the Milky Way.

The Milky Way Galaxy is spiral-shaped.

spiral like ours: the milky way
The milky way is shaped like a discwith a bulge in the middle rather like two fried eggs placed back to back.
Saturn is a planet in our solar system, so Saturn's galaxy is the earth's galaxy, and so forth. Saturn's galaxy (our galaxy) is the Milky Way. The Milky Way is a spiral [shaped] galaxy.
The Andromeda Galaxy is spiral shaped, much like our own Milky Way Galaxy.See related link for a pictorial.
The "Milky Way" is the name given to the galaxy in which we reside. The Milky Way is classified as a barred spiral galaxy type; a spiral galaxy with a central bar shaped structure composed of stars. The main galaxy classifications are spiral, elliptical and irregular .
