water wave is in the shape of a oval
Sine wave
A wave in a body of water is a traveling transverse wave because the motion of the medium (water) is perpendicular to the motion of the wave.
A bow wave refers to a wave or system of waves set up at the bows of a moving ship. The V shape of a bow wave is formed because the wave source is moving much faster than the wave itself.
A wave's energy moves in a circular pattern and the deeper the water column, the faster the wave travels and the smaller its size e.g. it has low steepness. As it approaches the shore and the water becomes shallow, the bottom of the wave drags on the ocean floor which slows the bottom of the wave down but the top of the wave continues at the same speed. Eventually the top of the wave gets so far ahead of the bottom that it topples over forming a breaker.

Water is not a wave but a substance!

The shape of the waveform.
A wave's energy moves in a circular pattern and the deeper the water column, the faster the wave travels and the smaller its size e.g. it has low steepness. This is because the waves formed in the sea are caused by the blowing wind. As the wind blows over the water, stream of wind pushes the overlying water towards the direction it is moving. Therefore, the speed of water determines the size and shape of the wind.
The S Wave (Secondary Wave) cannot travel through water. On the P Wave (Primary Wave) and the Surface Wave can travel through water.
