When you log in to your computer (or have just turned it on)Make sure your NOT on the internet, right click and go down to SCREEN RESOLUTION. Change the resolution to the highest, click on apply an & OK and your computer will be back to normal.
Cuz it overloads your laptop. It's soo annoying ikr. There isn't much to do about it just remember to save often.
Usually you don't shut them down at all. Actually if you want to shut it down - you have to tell it why your shutting it down - not sure if this applies to Linux servers. But if you ever try shutting down and starting up a server with just an active directory and exchange installed... you will soon realise the meaning of the word 'patience'.

My Acer Aspire 5315 just shuts off for no reason a lot. I know it isn't overheating because it's not hot at all. Just blip and it's off. Can anyone think of a solution and or cause? Thanks.

You should not attempt to unlock a laptop that you just found. It is not yours. You should contact the lost and found department where you found it and/or contact the police.

Most of the time it is just simply hitting the Esc button on your keyboard. If that doesn't work, right-click with your mouse on the screen and see if there is a possibility of shutting down the full screen.
There is nothing wrong with shutting a computer down after you are finished using it, as long as you use the 'Shut Down' procedeures. Bill Gates may want you to leave your computer on all the time, but that is just so that his software has the most oppurtunity to screw up.
