At a minimum, ensure the driver has the spring brakes set and the wheels are chocked. Some shippers may require that the emergency line to the trailer (red line) be disconnected. Some may also require that drivers remain in a drivers' lounge during loading.

The trailer must be secured against movement. The parking brake should be set, and either the tires chocked or a dock lock mechanism activated.
