That depends on the battery, and the charger. my charger has different settings for higher amps to give a faster charge or jump. A fully charged battery will show 12.6 volts.

The charger will read it's maximum amperage if the battery is totally discharged. A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts with a digital DC volt meter. If it reads 12 volts it has less than 25% charge.

Can a battery charger also test a battery?

A battery charger can be used to test a battery if the charger includes a voltmeter, so you can read off the voltage. Note: A battery charger is designed to be used only for rechargeable batteries. It can be very dangerous to try to use a battery charger to test or recharge normal non-rechargeable batteries.

Can you overcharge a car battery?

You bet you can. That is why it is always advisable to use an automatic charger that shuts off when the battery is fully charged. If you do not have one then charge it for a couple of hours and then remove the charger and check the voltage at the battery. A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts. 12.4 at 75% charge, 12.2 at 50% charge, and 12 Volts at 25%. If it is not fully charged then put the charger back on a little longer.

This is generally something to avoid. A fire or explosion could result, and if you read the charger's instructions, it probably says that those things can result.

How long to charge an m4 airsoft gun battery?

I read that the initial charge should be 4 hours, but no longer, and that all charges after that should be 2-3 hours, but again, no longer. Charging too long will cause the battery to not be able to hold a charge and could even cause it to leak.

Do you fit a car battery if the voltage is under 12.4v?

A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts. A battery reading 12.4 volts is 75% charged. 12.2 volts = 50% charge, 12.0 = 25% charge. You should use a battery charger to charge any battery reading less than 12.4 volts before installing it on the vehicle.

Why is Mazda mpv 1992 having difficulty maintaining battery charge?

Check the following: Is your alternator drive belt tight enough? Do you read at least 14 volts between battery terminals with engine running? Is your battery usable (chargeable) to 12 volts+ with an external battery charger? An answer of NO to any one or a combination of these questions should be the answer to your problem.
