Anything that breaks down over time can be added to the pile. Plastics, glass, rocks, metals and large bones, won't break down very well, so they should be avoided. Anything that rots can be added.

Add cured compost from your recycling center to amend your loose soil and blend together. Never add FRESH CUT MULCH ,it will take all the nitrogen from your plants just to decompose. I find that adding mulch creates fungi as the mulch starts to decompose.

Carbon- and nitrogen-rich, small-sized compostables and contaminants, dairy, greasy, meaty, oily foodscraps, diseased and weedy plants and large-sized recyclables represent what should be added and what should be avoided when composting. Composting takes place within three months to a year by excluding the above-mentioned leftovers, pollutants and over-sized loads. Composting works best by adding air (through turning) and moisture (to the consistency of a wrung-out sponge) weekly while avoiding extremes of light and non-light and foragers.
