Your first and primary responsibility as parents is your newborn. When the newborn is crying, you don't know what situation exists that is causing this ... could be anything, including choking on something ... you don't know until you physically check on the baby, and your newborn must be your only priority during these formative years.
Granted new parents need some intimate time for each other ... this is where the grandparents or close friends can help. This is all part of parenting.
