Just spread the word, but....
* Do NOT over-hype it! Linux in its' various forms still has a TON of problems. People should understand that it might not be right for them.
* Always encourage a dual-boot setup, so they can easily switch back to Windows when they encounter problems, as they almost certainly will.
This is illegal and should not be done.
Yes, it can be done from the windows installation disk, but it's cleaner if you remove ubuntu with the ubuntu live cd and then install windows.

Ubuntu cannot harm your computer's hardware at all. If you dont have much experience with installing operating systems, and try to install ubuntu, there's a possibility that you can overwrite all the data that is currently on the hard drive. However, if you are installing Ubuntu on a blank hard drive, then there is no harm that can be done by doing so. Ubuntu is a very useful linux-based operating system.

You will need to make a bootable USB stick. The Ubuntu LiveCD should include a tool to do this.
All versions of Ubuntu should be able to run on the Dell Mini.
Xubuntu and Ubuntu are two different versions of Ubuntu. (Ubuntu has GNOME.)
This really depends on what you're installing (ex video, sound, modem, etc.). Once the PCI card has been physically installed the hardware should automatically be recognized by ubuntu. Ubuntu includes a wide variety of generic drivers that should allow you to use the device. If it is not detected google ubuntu and the model number of your hardware there is likely to be documentation for its installation
