Keep in mind that once the Sim does have a family, at least one of his wants and fears will always be family-related (ex. have baby, teach to walk, play with, etc.) The obvious one should be family, but that means that they will be totally focused around their family and will probably want a great number of children. Another option would be knowlegde, who will want to teach their children and have them achieve but they will also want other things in life. If you have a family in mind, never have a romance or pleasure (Nightlife) sim to start it off.

The Sim would a family aspiration that makes their wants things like have a baby; Compared to a person with the romance aspiration that would have wants like have three loves at the same time.
How do you get more aspiration points on sims 2?
Look at your Sim's Wants and Fears panel. Fulfill Wants and avoid Fears to get more aspiration points. Fulfilling one Want will reroll the rest, so lock the Want you think you can fulfill next. If your Sim wants several objects (fridge, toilet, bird cage), buy them all at once for a big boost. If your Sim wants an object and expensive versions of that object, such as a painting, a painting costing at least 1000, a painting costing at least 5000, etc., buying just the most expensive item will fulfill all Wants. Objects must be kept past midnight or your Sim will lose the aspiration points! If your Sim wants something that they can just barely afford, buy it, move to inventory, and delete. You'll get the money back and the Sim won't lose the aspiration points from the purchase. If your Sim has several career wants, lock one by clicking on it and get the job for the other want; then get the job for the locked want.
How do you change a Sim's aspiration?
For PC there is in aspiration rewards an aspiration changer. I forget the name of it. The sim needs to be in gold aspiration level to use it or something really funny will happen.

This depends upon the sim. For instance, a sim with the Family aspiration will (instead of aspiring to woohoo) will want more kids. This is because the sim is (usually) already married, and what's the point of woohoo (to a family sim) if they don't get pregnant? :) But if that sim has the Romance aspiration, they don't really want to have kids--they aren't really the kind of kid-loving sims. They will just want to woohoo--again, and again, and again... A Popularity sim will probably have both baby and woohoo based wants, and Fortune sims don't spin 'em up that often. Why do Sims worry and or cry about their aspiration?
Sims in the Sims 2 computer game usually cry and/or worry about their aspiration if their aspiration meter is low. (The aspiration meter is the little bar next to the Wants and Fears slots. To improve their aspiration meter, complete some of their wants.
