The fuel pressure regulator is located in the throttle body. More than likely you have a fuel pump issue. Those regulators rarely go bad.
It controls / regulates the fuel pressure.
Engine oil pressure, cooling system pressure, ac pressure, fuel pressure?
With a fuel pressure gauge. Not knowing what year and engine you have I can't tell you what the pressure should be.

The 1974 Chevy truck has a mechanical fuel pump with a built in pressure regulator.
The Pressure Has To Be Arround 30 to 40 psi

The typical fuel pump pressure for a 1997 Chevrolet CK 1500 truck is 50 psi. The high pressure is required to atomize the fuel when it leaves the injectors.
It is located under the left side of the truck just forward of the fuel tank, mounted to the frame with a bracket. Need to jack up the truck to reach it. Two fuel lines are attached to it. Releave pressure in the lines before removing them.
A 1992 Chevy with a short box bed has a fuel capacity of 16 gallons up to 42 gallons. How the truck is optioned out will determine which fuel capacity is in it.
