The middle of the Ordovician period would have been fairly mild. Plus there was abundant marine life for food. There was no animals, or plants on land. A traveler to this time Would need a shelter, and lots of fishing gear. Near the end of the period was an Ice Age, so winter clothing would be a must.
Well, I'd bring heavy fire arms (with lots of ammo) for sure... Just to be safe. The Cretaceous period was the period of the big dinosaurs (Tyrannosaurus Rex, for example.) Something to start a fire with would be nice as well. This would provide heat, light (at night), and it would serve as a cooking method (Maybe those Dinosaurs you bagged earlier?) and protection, as wild animals (including dinosaurs) fear fire.
Dinosaur repellant, if it were possible. It would also be much warmer across most of the globe.
Most likely food and dinosaur repelant
i think travelers would pack armor or protection from the dinosaurs, and wear a LOT of camo

A working time machine?
Water, food, and an item for safety from the early sharks.
For comfort, definitely good running shoes. For safety, you're going to want something that kills dinosaurs. Hope this helps.

I would pack warm and cool clothes for going to this time period because of how seasonal the cenozoic eon is.
