Probably, the harder you try to wow the interviewer, the worse will be the outcome. If you are extremely artful and sly, you can pull it off effortlessly, but then you wouldn't have bothered to ask the question. The best approach is to learn as much as you can about the company and have some sense of how you can fit in. It will help if 'how you can fit in' matches what they are looking for. If this works for you, think about yourself as being needed by the company to satisfy some of the company's needs. Don't come across as being personally needy or overly demanding. If you can do all of this while remaining honest, direct and good humored, you are doing very well indeed. You can relax a little. Interviewers know how trying it is to go through this process. They are actually expecting to interview a human being and not a god-like automaton (unless, of course, the opening is for a god-like automaton).

A interviewer is partly interested in your acedemic knowledge and is solely interested in you. He always looks for confidence in his employees.

so even if a person X does not have a very shining acedemic record but still he can bang the interview with this cool and calm confidence.

Also the resume for the cantidate plays an important role in the whole making.

making a good resume with highlighting the main points with bullet points and using less jargons can surely give you an advantage.

peace :)
