Raking and watering are actions to take after applying compost to a lawn. The compost has to be raked evenly and almost invisibly into the lawn from a 0.25-inch (0.64-centimeter) yard-wide layering. It then may be watered for 15 to 20 minutes so that the compost can break down and release nutrients before resumption of weekly mowing schedules seven to eight days later.
No, grass cannot be mowed after applying compost. The lawn must be raked so that the dark-colored, fresh-smelling, nutrient-rich compost becomes integrated almost invisibly, but equally, prefatory to a 15- to 20-minute watering. Mowing schedules need to wait seven to eight days.
Their really is not 'a best type of compost' it is really all the same. Any thick black compost is good for the lawn.
Yes you can compost grass that has been teated with a weed killer. Wether weed kill or some other product keep the product in mind when you use the compost. depending on the product you may not want to use it in your vegtable garden. In your case this would be great to use weed killer compost on the lawn. As time goes by most of any added product will leach out of the compost but I would still use care were the compost gets used. I use weed kill and ferterlizer on my lawn and compost the clippings. I use most of the compost on the lawn and in the flower garder with no know problems.

If your compost gets hot, like it's supposed to, then it will kill the mushroom spores and you will not have mushrooms growing in your bin.

There is no need to mix old and new compost. Old compost ,if ready, should be used on its own. New material will take time to rot down to compost.
