You could request of your school that WikiAnswers be unblocked, providing legitimate reasons for doing so.
Of course, it could be that computer only is blocked. When unregistered users misbehave on WikiAnswers (violate rules or commit vandalism), it is not uncommon for the I.P. to be blocked for as little as one minute or as long as thirty days. The most common length of an IP block is 1-3 hours. As supervisors, we do not like to block I.P.'s used by schools; we know that those who use the computers rotates very quickly and it is unfair that a vandal have access but not the person with a legitimate need for the site.
If you encounter a WikiAnswers block, not a school network block, try to register as a member of WikiAnswers. Or, if possible, move to a different computer.
Put it in the "Bypassing Blocked Websites" category. For Supervisors, just trash it (to the mentioned category).
No it shouldn't be blocked!!!!!!!!!
There's not much you can do if you were blocked from WikiAnswers. You can still view WikiAnswers, but you will not be able to make any changes. Thus, for those of you who are blocked, you should have heeded the warnings and rules of WikiAnswers. If you feel your block was unjust, please email WikiAnswersHelp @ WikiAnswers.com or Unblock @Answers.com (remove spaces)
The privelege of the first ever blocked user on Wikianswers goes to :!@#$% (I can not tell the username otherwise I will get blocked from Wikianswers myself. ). He was blocked on 22 Mar 2005 by Chris at 18:33.
No, when you are blocked from Wiki.Answers.Com, you are blocked from that one website, not every single website, only if you then login with the blocked account on the other Wiki Website.
Because the school has blocked that website at your school for their own reasons. Helping kids break the rules is not what WikiAnswers is about. If we were to provide the answer to this and similar questions, this site would be blocked by the school as well. We like being available to people with questions.
If your access to a website is blocked, you should speak to your network administrator. WikiAnswers will not redirect or proxy you.
I believe that anyone who is not conducting themselves properly should be blocked, regardless of age. This is a Help site, and if you are not helping or looking for answers, you have no place here.
oh yeah! and you know why
Usually it's the account, not the computer.
Yes, a supervisor on WikiAnswers can indeed be blocked. If a supervisor breaks the Terms of Use agreement for WikiAnswers, he or she is in danger of being blocked from contributing to the site - just as with any other user. A normal supervisor will not have the rights to block a fellow supervisor. Community Assistants only would have that option.
They think that it is funny or fun to vandalize wikianswers, but they could get easily blocked by supervisors if they do.
