I wouldn't trust this guy! This is an old line and you'd think he'd come up with something better. Some men (and women) can use and abuse another simply for sex and a good time out. He's hurt you and he must have known how you felt about him. Kick this guy out of your life and learn from it. Going together is a commitment and just not marriage. He let you down and he needs to learn to have more respect for women in general.
