It happens all the time even though, most of the time, friends don't mean to let you down. You should just try to talk to them and clear any misunderstandings between you. Sometimes, people do not even realize they have let you down and if you don't let them know they have it could happen again. Communication is important in friendships and relationships of all kinds.
