Job 2:9 Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!"
Job 2:10 But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.

Suffering in this life is another lesson learned from Job. Though mankind is the main cause for most suffering via the principle of 'cause and effect,' suffering is also caused by Satan's temptations and confusion to us all. And God also allows suffering on the good and the bad as He wills - a test of our committment to Him as He did here with Job.
Job's experiences can explain why righteous people may go through discouraging and traumatic times and be tempted to resent God for not obviously and quickly intervening on their behalf. Like Job, we can fail to understand that God sees far more than we see, therefore, we should never assume God isn't listening or doesn't care. He sees lessons we need to learn that are beyond our present understanding. King David wrote on this in Psalm 27:14 as did James 5:10-11.
