Most games require about 2 GB of RAM, and 512 Mb of video card memory. CD and DVD types don't matter unless you will use them excessively or burn discs, then you would want and DVD rewritable drive. USB is the same. Processors are split in to cores, if you want it to be fast, you want 8 cores, but I am running basic Ubuntu applications with 512 Mb RAM and a single core processor. But it is a bit slow. If money isn't a concern, I would personally go all out with an alienware computer.
