Talk about simple things, if you like him back, i would be somewhat flirty and ask him things like "What are you doing this weekend" or something. Another thing you could do is ask him out. Ask if you want to see a movie or something Saturday. But if you don't like the boy set him straight and say nicely "I just don't like you that way." You can also drop small hints to tell him you like him sorta.

you could talk to him about random stuff , if you like him ask about his life and offer to listen to anything he wants to complain about or emphasize. if you dont like him and he likes you just casually asks who he likes then if he asks tell him you dont like anyone. the thing i do is play truth or dare its so much fun and a good way to get to know eachother!
