It depends on what part of the country you are going to and what time of year. In general, you will demonstrate respect by dressing as the Kenyans dress. I never saw Kenyans wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts. It is best to dress conservatively. The men wear loose fitting slacks and cotton button up shirts The women wear dresses and skirts. Skirts and shorts on women should be at least knee length. Women's shirts should have sleeves. If you choose to wear jeans and a t-shirt, you will mark yourself as a tourist who just got off the plane. Not to contradict the person above but many many people in the city wear jeans and t-shirts. It depends where you go. at the coast it is advisable to cover up with t-shirts and long shorts or skirts. It would not do to offend the different people or religions on the beach.
