For direct sunlit subjects, use 1/500 second at f16.

You really, really need a light meter...or need to learn how to use the one in the camera. If you are using film, there is usually an exposure guide printed on the inside of the box. Just take the box apart carefully.

What does shutter speed contral?

The faster your shutter speed is, the more underexposed (darker) your subject/ scene will be. fast shutter speeds include 1/200th of a second, 1/320, 1/400, 1/500, 1/640, 1/800, 1/1000 and so on. If the shutter is slower (1/30, 1/40, 1/50 1/60, 1/100, 1/160) it will let more light in. with a slower shutter and moving objects, motion blur will occur, which is why a faster shutter is used to take action shots such as sports, and a slower shutter is used in Modeling photography to capture those vivid colors and lights.

How is the shutter speet measured?

Fractions of a second. 1/8 1/16 1/36 1/400 1/4000

What setting is recommended if you are shooting in low light?

A lens with lower aperture would be great, something less than F2.8 would give you more light to the subject, ISO should be around 400-1600 ( mid range- high range camera) , keep the shutter speed around 1/200-1/20, if you have tripod you can go for lower shutter speed.

How would you set the ISO for shutter speed and aperture for correct exposure on a rainy day and why?

The ISO speed, shutter, and aperture are all interconnected. There is never necessarily one "correct" setting for all 3. However, if you're not shooting on a tripod, you probably want to set your shutter speed to 1/60 to reduce camera shake. To eliminate grain, you may want to keep your ISO below 400. It may be cloudy on a rainy day, so you may be able to shoot at f/8 or f/11. Of course, on most digital cameras you could select a shutter priority (meaning the camera will adjust the aperture for correct exposure at a shutter speed of 1/60) and then set your ISO to 400. The camera will automatically meter the scene and set the aperture correctly.

What is a safe shutter speed when you are using your camera in wide angle mode?

By safe shutter, speed I assume you are wanting to know the slowest shutter speed that will not capture noticeable camera shake? There is no absolute answer to this. How much do your hands shake? The 'rule of thumb' I have used is 1/{focal length}. For a 400mm lens you would need a 1/400 sec or to use a tripod to avoid noticeable camera shake. For the 18mm you might get away with 1/20 or so. Although I despise using tripods, they will always give a sharper picture. You might need a microscope to tell, but you can tell.

Would you use a fast or slow shutter speed to freeze the action during a daytime sports event?

You neeed to use a fast shutter speed to freeze any sort of action when you are photographing sports, action or even fast moving wildlife or birds. Usually well over 1/500th of a second. You may need to change your ISO setting to 400 to 800 if you want to use high shutter speeds, on not-so-bright days, that are overcast, cloudy or without sunlight.

What does pushing film enable a photographer to do?

When a photographer pushes film, they use the film at a faster speed than it's rated for which allows for faster shutter speeds. Fast shutter speeds allow for capturing fast moving objects. If you push film, you need to let the lab that develops it know what speed you pushed it to so that they can process it correctly. Example: ISO 100 rated film can be pushed to ISO 200 or even ISO 400.

Top speed of Honda trx 400?

stock standard it should make about 8648km/h

How does the shutter affect exposure?

Aperture is hole that shutter creates to let in light to compose your image. The bigger the aperture, or smaller the f-stop (f/2), lets in more light. The shutter speed is how fast the shutter opens and closes. This has a major part to do with the lighting and whether the motion in your picture will freeze or blur. A high shutter speed (1/4000) will freeze all motion but majorily decrease light.

What is the fraction of 1km is 400?

The answer depends on the units used for 400. It should be blindingly obvious to anybody that 400 nanometres and 400 metres will give very different answers.
