it needs to be between the fork fingers and the pressure plate release fingers
If it is a standard transmission S10 maybe they are talking about the "throwout bearing" which is part of the clutch operation that can go bad.
Generally there is a knife and fork, but if there isn't then the fork would go on the left side of the plate.
have you checked the axles are in the correct position, make sure they are all the way in sometimes the axles were not installed correctly. make sure they are in the correct position
In formal dining etiquette, the fork is typically placed on the left side of the plate.
The fork and knife go on the right side of the plate and if you have a spoon it goes on the left side of the plate.
If it won't move, then the clutch isn't working fine. I'd guess that you either didn't get the clutch fork onto the throwout bearing or it's way out of adjustment. If it's hydraulic (and I DON'T know if it is) then you may have a bad clutch master or slave cylinder. Or it could have air in the system and need bleeding.
If it was the throwout bearing, it would affect all of the gears, not just one. I would suspect a bad gear or syncronizer.
Automatic? Torque converter no longer pumping fluid Valve body blockage Shift linkage broke? Manual? Shift linkage broke? Shift fork broke or bent Gear breakage? throwout bearing not working? Here are some ideas................................ ON MINE, IT WAS THE PIVOT PIN AT THE BASE OF THE SHIFT LEVER HAD MOVED OR SLIPPED OUT OF POSITION. I JUST HAD TO TAP IT BACK INTO POSITION.
there is a tool that aligns the clutch disc with the pilot bushing to center it so that the input shaft will line up with the splines in the disc and pilot bushing. These are usually included with the kit which should include the tool, disc pressure plate, pilot bushing, throwout bearing, maybe spline grease. Also, lube the end of input shaft (go easy on the grease) and throwout bearing ball pivot and throwout bearing sleeve(what it rides on). Also when installing new bushing, don't use a punch to install or you will pean over edges and play hell getting input shaft in (use driver tool). Don't get any grease on the disc. Have flywheel resurfaced.
The service plate one inch from the edge of the table with the soup bowl on top. One the left side place the salad fork, dinner fork, and fish fork. The knives go in the same order on the right side. The dessert spoon and cake fork go one inch above the service plate. Bread and butter goes above the forks and a glass of water and wine go above the knives with a napkin folded carefully beside the forks on the left side.
The throwout bearing in your clutch is the likely culprit here. Your clutch may be shot in addition, but you are probably looking at a costly fix here.
The clutch is not adjusted correct, if adjustable, I don't know the year your working on. There is air in the system, needs to be bleed again real good. Could have wrong throwout bearing too.
