If you bought a new complete bike (not just the frame) you can look at the sidewall of the tires to find out what size you'll need. Many bike manufacturers also list tire requirements online.
Check the sticker on the drivers door jamb, it will list the size it was built with. That is the size you should buy.
The type that mount on the exterior spare tire are the best. The brandname of mine is Rhode Gear.
Take the tire size into your local tire shop and they can get the tire and mount it for you. You can also go to a retail store, like Wal-mart and purchase the tire there. They should be able to get the size if it isn't in stock.
You should buy a new tire and save the fix-a-flat for your bike.

lose weight then buy a motor bike (Really stupid answer i know) i don't know why i put this up there.......
Usually you simply buy tubes according to the tire size rather than the bicycle type. As long as you have the right valve and the tube size fits the tire size, with some leeway on the width, you're OK. 26x1.75" might fit a MTB, but it's a little on the narrow side. Most would be 2.0" or wider.

you mean if you put on the spare? or if you buy a single new tire? both should be ok if there the correct size.
The tire size should be stamped on the wall of the tire. www.tirebuyer.com and www.tirerack.com are websites where you can compare different prices of tires and select those that are within your price range.
any tire store should carry them.
The size of the tire is usually embossed on the tire sidewall, then just buy a tube in that range. Make sure you get the right kind of valve.
