this is for a mid to late 70's 460 block

What year is this date code off of a d1ve 6015-a2b ford 460 big block 7k10?

D1 means that it's a 71 block but would have been used up until the early 80s as they didn't change anything on the block until the 80s where the engine was externally balanced and has a big weight behind the crank.

What Ford casting number is this D1VE 601SA2B?

With Ford, they began using this form of block casting in the late 1950's. They assigned each decade a letter which begins the casting number. 1950 began the coding with letter 'B'. Each subsequent decade received the following letter. The first number after the first letter is the year of that decade in which the part was modeled for. This means that your block casting number D1VE 601SA2B is for a:D = 1970's1 = 1971This piece has a casting number for 1971.V = the model is a LincolnE = the part is an engine component6015 = [your 's' is actually a 5] it is an engine base assembly piece (or the actual engine itself)A2B = the engineering versionIn conclusion, this casting number tells you that the part is for the engine of 1 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. Probably a 460 cu in, 7.5 L, V8 engine.

Ford casting number D1VE-A2B?

D1VE-A2b is 460 Big block Ford or possibly a 429 Big block Ford (BBF). Its hard to know without looking at the crank casting number. 2 or 3 series is 460, 4 series is 429. You can take off the oilpan to see this on the counterweight of the crankshaft. Or measure the stroke of the motor. The longer stroke will be a 460. Of course, one could have a 429 bloke that has a stroker kit in it that will enable it to have a larger cubic inch capacity. Search online for the correst stroke of either motor. Some of these blocks have been stroked to over 600 cubic inches and can top over 1000HP. standard 460 with a mild build can push over 500 lbs torgue and 450 HP with no problem. With a larger investment around 600 HP is reasonable all day long. Just as important is what type of heads are on this motor?
