The parking brake light stay lit on the 1999 Mitsubishi Montero sport the parking brake is working and you have not put the light off.
In some (but not all) vehicles, the tail and brake light are part of one globe, generally, a 12v 21/5W globe. The tail light comes on when the parklights and/or headlights are on, and the brake light will come on when the foot is applied to the brake pedal. The one globe has 2 filaments and the pin for the globe is offset (the base also has 2 x contacts). On vehicles such as trailers, the brake and tail globes are generally separate (2 x festoon globes) each with differing wattages. Hope that helps! Lindalegend from Tassie.
You've probably put the globes in backwards. The brake light globes also contain park light filaments. So if you don't correctly fit the globe into the holder only one of the two internal light circuits operate -twice :P
either you have a blown bulb, low brake fluid or you need new brake pads
its telling you your alt is going out
. your question about the brake light. the brake light shown not light up went you press on the brake pedal. if it light up is went you have a brake problem. good look
If the light stays on when the emergency brake is not engaged, this indicates the brakes are getting low and need to be replaced.
If you want to change the light you have to remove the right rear internal panel (located in the trunk). Only after removing the panel you will gain access to the light. Then it's just matter of removing nuts replacing the light and putting everything together.
You have to remove the interior trim of the lift gate.
The 1995 Mitsubishi flasher relay switch and the brake light relay switch can be found beneath the dashboard. Both switches will be on the drivers side of the dashboard, near the brake pedal.
Replace the bulb it works when you turn on the driving lights and when you brake. there are two little springs inside the light one is for the brake light and the other is for the driving light. All you need to do is replace the bulb. good luck.
TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE!!! If your brake fluid is low the brake light will be on, there is a float inside the brake fluid reservoir, after you fill it up, if the light is still on take the cap bake off of the reservoir and make sure that the float is floating, if it isn't wiggle it around with your finger and it should pop to the top.
