To replace front brake pads on a 2002 Ford Mustang safely raise and stabilize the vehicle. Remove the wheels and caliper. Slide out the front brake pads and replace with new units.

Remove the wheel and tire assembly and the brake caliper then the brake rotor will slide right off.
Front caliper pistons can be compressed by hand using a clamp on the old brake pad, etc. Rear caliper pistons on this model Mustang need to be "twisted" back into place using a special tool. Go to your local parts tool and ask for brake caliper reset tool and they should know what you mean. The idea here is that you use the special tool to turn the piston while applying force to push it back.
In most Fords the rotor will come off when you unbolt the brake caliper.

Either 9mm hex or Torx T-45
Lift the car on a jack, remove the tire, remove the brake shoe/caliper and remove the brake pad. Put in the new brake pad, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire and lower the car.
