The vacuum hose is probably 5/32" ID. The other question I don't have the answer.
There is no vacuum at the nipple on the EGR VALVE. The Vacuum line that hooks to it should suck your finger when you speed the engine up. That line will come from the TBI ( Throttle Body Injection housing) and hook to the EGR valve, and when the engine RPMs. go up it sucks the EGR VALVE OPEN. UNDERSTAND.
i have a 1999 contour w/4cyl. the vacum hose was broken off where dose it hookup on the engine need diegram,

Follow the rubber hose coming out of the top of the radiator. Where it connects to the engine, you will find a metal cover and the thermostat is under that cover.
