I have a 1973 15ft valco. I run a 25 hp jet. It seems to do fine but I wouldn't go any bigger.
The smallest motor for a 16 foot Lowe boat is about 30 horsepower. The maximum size should be no more than 100 horsepower.
it should probs have a motor beetween 70 and 115hp check the hp rating on your boat on the capacity plate
My Valco A12 has a hull tag saying 10hp max
I saw one today with a 115 and some on line with more than that.
NO motor is necessary on a sailboat.
My 15 ft. aluminum v-hull does 22 mph with a light load in it. More weight = less speed.
If you get an industrial role from someone like U-line, one. Even if you include the sail for your 15 ft boat.
There are no standard electric OUTBOARD motors made for a boat that large. While submarines and sightseeing boats may use electric motors, they are not outboards, and are designed for the hull shape and size. The largest electric outboard I have seen is 3 hp- suitable for a 14 ft boat.
26 ft searay
175/150
55lb or 70lb.
the 20hp Mercury outboard motor runs at the most at 8mph on a good 14ft to 16ft aluminum boat. Mercury.co
