We use a die of the proper size to cut threads on steel pipe. This pipe die can be turned by hand, or by machine. There are examples of this process in any good hardware or large home improvement store. They have pipe threaders on the premises, and they can thread most common pipe stock.

Stepping down the size of a pipe on irrigation can certainly bring up the pressure. Generally, the larger the pipe, the lower the pressure. It is best to use at least a 3/4" pipe in size in terms of irrigation.

No, refrigeration pipes are normally quarter of an inch, this pipe size is far too small, use the industry standard, half inch pipe size.
