I've been pusuing a career in this "stuff" for 20 years and from my experience the less familiarity you have with it the better the chance of you actually getting a job in it. But be careful, if you work with it you'll gain experience and learn something which in turn will make you unemployable.
Mind you, if you know anyone who is intellectually challenged or otherwise somehow retarded, you should consider recommending to them a career in aquaculture as they'll fit right in with everyone else in the industry!
