The only tiger species that can produce a white coat is the Bengal tiger. This is due to a recessive gene that is only found in the Bengal subspecies. Both parents must have the genes. It is like blue eyes in humans. With the exception of the coat color, white tigers are the same as orange coated tigers as far as their physicality and growth, strength, etc. The white coat, however, can be a disadvantage as far as possibly making it harder for the tiger to blend into its surroundings (jungle, forest, mangrove)and therefore may not be as successful in hunting as an orange coated tiger and makes it it a greater target for poachers.
The Siberian tiger is the biggest species if tiger today.
