Answer

The Septuagint ('LXX') was an early Greek translation of all the Hebrew scriptures. At the time of the first translations into Greek, the Hebrew canon had not yet been established, so there was no set guideline as to which books were worthy of translation.

The LXX certainly began with the translation of the Pentateuch, as these were regarded as the five most important scriptures, but the project continued until all the scriptures were available to the Jews of the diaspora, who could not read the scriptures in Hebrew.

How do the Apocrypha and Septuagint affect the Bible?

ApocryphaThe apocrypha are 'hidden' Old Testament books included in the Roman Catholic Bible and also (somewhat differently) the Orthodox Bible, but not the Jewish Bible or the Protestant Bibles.Christianity arose at a time when Judaism had not yet made a decision as to what scriptures should be formally included in its Bible. The early Christians accepted all the books that they knew the Jews to regard as holy, and treated them as biblical. The Council of Jamnia met at the end of the first century and, after much debate, selected those books to be regarded as part of the Tanach, or Hebrew Bible, omitting the books that came to be known as the Apocrypha, or Deuterocanonical books. Protestant Churches chose to accept the Jewish decision to exclude the apocryphal books.SeptuagintThe Septuagint was a flawed, second-century-BCE translation into Greek of the Hebrew scriptures. Because of the split between Christianity and Judaism, Christian theologians could not read the Hebrew language or learn of the faults in the Septuagint. When Jewish religious leaders pointed out some of the differences, many claimed that the Jews had altered their own scriptures in order to undermine Christianity. The Dead Sea Scroll include pre-Christian copies of many of the Old Testament books, proving that the Masoretic texts now used by Judaism are actually quite close to the pre-Christian texts. The author of Matthew's Gospel relied on the Septuagint for Old Testament references, although of course Jesus would never have actually used it. One of the most famous outcomes of Matthew's reliance on the Septuagint is in his reference to Isaiah 7:14 as a prophecy that Jesus would be born of a virgin. And in the Septuagint, Isaiah 7:14 really does refer to a virgin bearing a child, even if not referring to Jesus himself. However, the real Book of Isaiah merely says that 'the young woman' would bear a child, which she does a few verses later in Isaiah.

What books are taken out of the Bible?

The books that form what is now known as the Bible were not originally written in order to be included in a 'Bible'. They were simply written to meet the religious or political purposes of their times. When, later, the concept of a collection of books, a 'Bible', came to the fore, some books were included and some were not.Until the first Bibles were compiled, there were no books in the Bible, to be taken out. It was merely a case of which of the many hundreds of potentially suitable books would be included, and which would not.Having said that, the Catholic Church included, and still includes, 15 'Deuterocanonical' books in its Old Testament. These were not included in the Hebrew Bible and, on the precedent of the Hebrew Bible, are not included in the Protestant Bible. Even the Catholic Church regards the Deuterocanonical books as not inspired in the same way as the canonical books are.

Does the Septuagint include the apocrypha?

The Septuagint was a Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament scriptures, with each book written on a separate scroll. There was no single, bound 'Bible' that could definitively identify which books were included and which were not. Does eastern orthodox and Roman Catholics use same Maccabees bible?

Catholics (there is no such thing as "Roman Catholic", that is a popular misnomer) use the complete Bible which includes the Old Testament that Jesus Christ used, the Septuagint. The Septuagint does contain the books of 1st and 2nd Maccabees but it is most certainly not called the "Maccabees Bible", just the Holy Bible or Sacred Scripture. The Orthodox Bible contains all kinds of books which were not in the Septuagint, do no, we do not use the same Bibles.

How many books not included in Bible?

there are 66 books in the bible

Did the catholics add books to the first bible written?

No. Rather, it is the opposite; Protestants removed many books from the original Bible. The Catholic Old Testament is descended from the Septuagint, which is the Greek translations of all of the Hebrew books that were used by Hellenic Jews at the time of Christ. Christ and the Apostles used these books, which include the "Deuterocanonical Books" that are not used in Protestant Bibles today. However, the Pharisees who opposed Christianity after Christ's crucifixion rejected the Septuagint because it was Greek and too much associated with Christianity, and in order to create a renewed Jewish identity, promoted their own list of books. The Septuagint actually has more books than the Catholic Old Testament does. When Protestant Bibles came to be, they based themselves more on the Pharisees' canon rather than what had been traditionally accepted by Christians for 1500 years.
